Christa Mastrangelo Joyce

Christa is E-RYT500 hour certified through Charm City Yoga in Baltimore, MD, and is the owner of Jala Yoga. She has studied primarily with Kim Manfredi, as well as Tom Gillette, Shiva Rea, Maria Garre and other wonderful and enlightening teachers. While her instruction is rooted in an Ashtanga (a physically rigorous practice) based practice, Christa’s teaching has evolved into a more fluid expression of movement in recent years. She is interested in what happens to the mind and body when we push past the limitations we create in our mind and allow ourselves to become stronger, healthier, more attuned to life, and all around more wonderful beings than we ever imagined possible. Christa loves to share the gifts that yoga has offered her and to help each person find their own path to this joyful practice. In her classes you will sweat, gain physical strength, focus on moving with your breath, learn about anatomy and the philosophy of the yoga practice, as well as try something new and hopefully leave feeling renewed and relaxed.

“Lessons from Christa have enhanced every aspect of my life, physically, mentally and spiritually. Her instruction has helped me overcome debilitating shoulder pain while propelling my practice to greater heights. Thanks to my private sessions I have been able to participate in several hours of rigorous cross-fit training, daily, and without pain or injury. I began with one session a week and it was so fruitful that I now do two, and I leave each with a greater understanding of how my body works. Christa is a fountain of knowledge and an everlasting source of inspiration. She inspires me to practice with a gentle determination, dedication and discipline.”

“I loved having private yoga sessions with Christa in preparation for the birth of my son. I am grateful prenatal yoga classes were not available as I could not imagine a class at a gym or wellness center being as supportive and focused on my needs. The sessions supported my connection to self and my breath as well as taught me poses and positions to ease pregnancy and labor discomforts. Christa’s spirit oozes love, compassion and acceptance which supported my own journey in extending acceptance toward myself regardless of outcomes. She is a pleasure to have as a support provider in my life.”
